Chenjerai Hove, a significant poet, novelist, and essayist from Zimbabwe, wrote his works in English and Shona, a Bantu language. Hove’s works blend African oral conventions with modern formal construction. His novels reflect the impacts of the struggle for a free society on the psyche and social life in Southern Africa.
